Blogchatter A2Z 2024

Dear (L)ibrary

A little girl
Who was shy
Who felt like she did not belong anywhere or with anyone
Who began to believe she was an anomaly
Who thought that she’d always be lonely or never have friends
Then…
One day found her way to you
Your doors and the space behind it
Opened up a magical portal for her
Within your shelves and cupboards, she finally felt like she belonged
Amidst the pages of the books you held, she found loyal and forever friends
Buried in your arms, nose dug deep in the pages, she’d spend hours, feeling less of a weirdo

Days, months and years flew by
But she and you have hung on to each other
Places changed, from cities to countries
Forms advanced, from physical to digital

But…
Even today
The girl holds you close
She keeps at an arm’s distance
Reaching out to you
Whenever the feeling of loneliness, being lost, or not having a friend around, creeps up

Thank you
For being that girl’s haven
For not letting her lose hope
For always having her back
For giving her friends

From,
The lonely girl who found a home within your walls
