English translation:
Title: The Meaning of Life
A question whose answer seems unfathomable
Whose answer
We keep looking for,
Sometimes here, at times there
Something that leaves us restless
Like a mystery
Slipping away from the fingers
Like the sands of desert or the gust of cool air in the sunlight
Everyone is on the lookout for it
Everywhere, every place
A dream whose becoming a reality,
Is like an unwritten purpose for each soul
Oh dear comrade! The meaning of this life
Whereabouts does it come knocking on everyone’s door?
Suppose sometime somewhere, if fortuitously
If ever it does pound
It’s so simple as if
Those first few drops of rain on my face
I looked up, and the secret was revealed
There lays the answer that was being searched for, for years

Finding meaning in the first drop of rain. A beautiful thought. I recently read somewhere that you create meaning and your poem captured that so well.

Bhai Sahab , ye zindagi ek guththi si hai jisse suljhate kabhi zamane beet jaatey hein. Khushnaseeb hain woh jo jaldi hi ise jeena seekh jateyhain.

Lovely metaphor for the essence of life. Rain drops wash away all the dirt and reveal the green of the leaves and life is also similar. The first rain drops can clear the dirt in the mind and open your eyes to what life is all about.

Wow, Manali. You write so well in Hindi too. Zindagi ka saar samajhte hue to kabhi zindagi guzar jaati hai ya kabhi ek pal mein sab saaf ho jaata hai. I don’t believe in looking for it, it shows itself.

Finding meaning in life can feel like chasing a dream that’s just out of reach. Life has a way of surprising us when we least expect it. Like the poem says, sometimes answers come knocking at our doors unexpectedly.

Not everything is easy to understad. Life is always a paheli and is better if it remains so, I feel. At least that way we try our best to work out to find the purpose of our existence.

Reading this the first thought that came to mind was me sitting with a hot cup of chai near a window with it rain heavily outside and someone reciting this poem in background. This was that beautifully written.
